All Arts Open Mic
Thurs., November 2 | Signs up 6:30pm

Held on First Thursdays, join this all-arts open mic presented by Story Parlor and Speakeasy Improv. Prepare a five minute original piece in whatever medium you so choose — storytelling, music, poetry, literature, comedy, dance — or simply come to enjoy and support the local arts community.

An Evening of Scottish Songs and Fiddle Tunes
Saturday, November 4 | Doors 7pm

Jamie Laval (fiddle) and Amber Rose (vocals) take an exciting musical journey through Scotland, Ireland, and Brittany, evocatively reimagining Gaelic love songs, rustic peasant dances, and recounting mythic tales from the Celtic world.

Sunday, November 5 | Doors 6pm

Join Story Parlor and Story Medicine Worldwide for a screening of Spike Jonze’s Her. Ten years ago, not one day ahead of its time Her was released. Did you see it or miss it? Come enjoy this screening, followed by a facilitated conversation led by local author Meta Commerse delving into an intimate film asking probing questions through a people's lens. What do you want, who are you in the face of an ever-advancing technology, and, how much power do you have after all? Ever stop to remember who asked you? This film did.

Story Lab
Tuesdays, March 5-April 23, 2024 | A seven-week exploration of how our personal narrative and lived experiences can inform our creative projects. Classes will range from learning how to mine for material from our own lives, to re-authoring our personal narrative, and finally how to repurpose our stories for creative work in any medium. Appropriate for anyone exploring autobiographical material in a creative setting. | REGISTER HERE

Don’t miss Story Parlor Hour airing on “The Voice of Asheville” — second Sundays at 2pm with an encore episode the following Wednesday at 5pm EST — locally on WPVM 103.7 FM, or globally at www.wpvmfm.org. Tune in to experience Story Parlor shows gone by, as well as live interviews with local artists who will soon take to the stage.

We are dedicated to delivering a space that serves the creative community of Asheville. From rehearsal space, workshops, table reads, film screenings, performances, and other intimate events, we have a fully flexible layout at Story Parlor, with rates designed with the artist in mind.
