Join local filmmaker, Blake Talley (AKA "Talley"), in this hands-on, 8 week course on Directing for the Screen. Explore various topics in filmmaking and practice directing live actors on camera!
Week 1—"Introduction: What does a Director do?”
Week 2—“Pre-production: Make the movie before you make the movie.”
Week 3—“Working with actors”
Week 4—“Workshop- with live actors!”
Week 5—“Production”
Week 6—“Prep your scene.”

Blake Talley, an independent filmmaker, music producer, and graduate of Colorado Film School, brings his experience in directing, writing, shooting and editing to Asheville School of Film! Blake recently completed filming and editing a docu-series, and has extensive training as an ABC news photojournalist, in addition to 15 years of independent videography, narrative film, and music production.

The Asheville School of Film, established in 2015, is focused on providing affordable, short term classes in various filmmaking, acting, and writing subjects. Story Parlor’s Story Co-op offers its members dedicated time and space at Story Parlor’s beautiful 1920s building to explore their creative pursuits while also providing built-in marketing, advocacy, and being in community with a like-minded cohort of artists and art organizations. Co-op members are granted recurring weekly three-hour slots to teach classes, run rehearsals, put on events, or anything else that furthers their own story as creatives.
