Supporting local artists isn’t just part of what we do—it’s the heartbeat of our mission. We are committed to fostering a thriving, inclusive arts community by creating opportunities for all artists to share their stories, grow their craft, and be valued for their work.

How We Make a Difference

  • Removing Barriers for Artists: We’re not just a venue to host a workshop or event: we are a partner through the process, offering mission-driven mentorship ranging from programming support, marketing collaboration, and on-the-ground production assistance.

  • Ensuring Fair Pay: Every artist who takes the stage at Story Parlor is compensated for their time and talent, reinforcing our belief that art is valuable and artists deserve to be supported.

  • The Story/Arts Residency Program: Our month-long residency uplifts BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other historically marginalized artists, providing a platform to share their stories through all art forms. Residents receive a stipend, rehearsal space, creativity coaching, and promotional support, while bringing transformative, interdisciplinary storytelling to our community.

  • Add a membership option to your cart and follow the checkout prompts. As soon as you’ve purchased your membership, you’ll receive an email welcoming you with your benefits, including your discount code and other helpful information.

    You’ll also be added to a members-only email list based on your tier to be contacted regarding special offers and opportunities.

  • Your membership directly supports Story Parlor’s mission to champion narrative artists and foster a vibrant creative community. It helps provide fair pay for artists, keep programming accessible, amplify diverse voices, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our venue—strengthening Asheville’s creative economy and cultural legacy for years to come.

  • Your membership will expire a year from the date you bought it and automatically renews annually on your original purchase date. 

  • You can cancel your membership anytime, no refunds will be offered, and your benefits will stay active until your membership expires.

  • Yes, every year, we will host a members-only party for Curator tiers on up. In addition, our members will receive special discounts throughout the year on select workshops and events.

  • Yes! Our events often have limited seating and frequently sell out. We highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance whenever possible to ensure you get a spot. Members receive a discounted rate on tickets, but availability is still first come, first served!

  • Membership discounts apply to one ticket per event, so guests will need to purchase their own tickets at the regular price. However, we encourage you to bring friends and introduce them to the Story Parlor community!

  • Members are an integral part of the Story Parlor community! You can deepen your involvement by volunteering, sharing your own creative work at our Open Mics and Creativity Mixers, or even pitching your own event.. Learn more about ways to engage on our Community Page.
