Open Mic Guidelines
The host curates the event and determines the run of show. The order in which you sign up may not be the order in which you perform.
There is no guarantee that all who come will perform. The list is first-come-first-served.
Each performer has a maximum of 5 minutes on stage.
Be mindful of your time.
The host reserves the right to stop any performance at their discretion.
It is a safe space to try out a new bit, get your 'tight 5' together, or just to try saying jokes at a crowd for the first time.
All mediums and skill levels are WElcome.
This offering is a recurring event in our Sunday Sessions program.

Dedicated to cultivating an environment that nurtures creative expression and storytelling through all art forms, Story Parlor is unwavering in its investigation of identity, culture, and humanity.
As such, we’ve crafted a few guidelines to ensure we present a program that is inclusive, inspirational, and true to our mission, along with (hopefully) most everything you’ll need to know about the cadence of the space and event.
About your piece….
Please share an original piece.
Your piece may not include hate speech, racial slurs, or bigoted material; further, someone else’s identity should never be used as a punchline.
Keep to your time limit! Practice in advance staying within the 5 minute allotment.

Min McWilliams is a stand up comic who got her start in Nashville, TN. There, under the steady hum of howling bachelorette parties, is where she began to find her voice as a comedian within the absurdity of life. Moving back last year to her home town of Black Mountain has given her more scope and she has loved connecting with the community in Western North Carolina. Also as an occasional improv performer, she tries to think on her feet and engage any audience.
THANK YOU!
Story Parlor would like to thank ArtsAVL and Buncombe County for providing funding support for the All Arts Open Mic.
