Bilingual Birdies Asheville is open for winter enrollment and launching two languages this winter! Spanish and French! The semester starts up the week fo January 23rd. Our 8-week class series changes every semester and features a new puppet character every 4 months.

Classes are an interactive live music concert where kids and adults learn new vocabulary in a target language, featuring puppetry, rhythmic explorations, theater games, and lots of dancing. Come for the dynamic teaching and sing-alongs that are different from any class in Asheville, and keep coming as you learn new vocabulary!

Classes are taught with a mix of English and either Spanish or French, and immersion levels adjust to the class. Registered families receive a puppet, digital vocab materials, ebook, and first year digital album of original Bilingual Birdies music. French classes will also feature an added French Club with monthly tastes of French cuisine! Sign up at www.bilingualbirdies.com/asheville

  • Dr. Šara Stranovsky is a trilingual professional singer, dancer, educator, and doctor of Culture and Performance Studies. She helped to build Bilingual Birdies in New York City and was a teacher and administrator for the company for many years in New York City while also performing professionally in Broadway and off-broadway performances. When she moved to Asheville, she couldn't find any classes for her toddler that were live music based or language learning based, so she launched Bilingual Birdies Asheville. She cannot wait to keep building the bilingual community here in Asheville from the French (and Portuguese) perspectives, and Spanish, through her wonderful Venezuelan colleague, Daniela.

Daniela Risquez is a singer, early childhood educator specializing in outdoor ed, and a children's book illustrator from Caracas Venezuela. She loves working with kids and performs as a professional singer when she is not making all the kiddos giggle!

  • Bilingual Birdies is an early childhood bilingual education program for children birth through age six and the adults who love them! Founded in New York City in 2006, we are the first to combine music, movement, and puppetry in a play-based curriculum to engage children as they increase their vocabulary and celebrate diversity in every class! Parent materials are provided for all enrolled families to keep the learning process going outside of class. We currently teach thousands of children in 25 cities across the US, Canada, Australia, Latin America, and the Middle East through our teacher certification program. Our hope is that future generations will learn that bilingualism is a path to greater opportunity, increased compassion for others, and a way to grow into a more open-minded adult. Day by day we’re igniting a bilingual education movement that all are welcome to join.
