Starr Sariego

Starr sariego

Starr’s passion lies in making exhibitions that tell stories using photography and narrative of subjects that don’t often show up in the collective community gaze ... underrepresented populations often unnoticed and misunderstood. For the last several years, she has focused on making portraits and combining them with the subjects’ own stories to spotlight these communities with hopes of improving awareness and engagement. Relationships and collaboration are important and at the heart of the projects.

Starr thinks of her photographic life in terms of creating images that reveal deeper opportunities for engaging with subjects and then bringing them to light through projects, interrogations and narratives. Her perspective is feminist and humanist, socially thought provoking and with the objective of changing perspectives. Godard got it right... “souls lie behind faces and capturing them is a privilege”.
