The Avanti Guitar Trio is a world-class chamber ensemble whose performances are exciting, approachable, and welcoming. Guitarists Amy Brucksch, Julie Goldberg and Christopher Teves blend pristine technique and sensitive interpretation, earning critical acclaim for their engaging concerts and varied programming. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary, and features newly composed music, engaging transcriptions of classical masterpieces, and an occasional rock/pop or jazz tune.

Amy, Julie, and Chris met while studying at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Clare Callahan. Each has gone on to pursue active careers in performance, composition, and teaching, and all relish their time together collaborating and sharing their music as a national touring ensemble.

Formed in 2010, the Avanti Guitar Trio continues to expand the guitar trio repertoire by composing/transcribing new works and collaborating with both established and up-and-coming young composers.

The Avanti Guitar trio presented a beautiful, very expressive, nuanced performance, creating an excellent fusion and cohesive sound...they listen to each other and play as one.”
— A. Moreno, Quigly Center Concert Series, Chicago, IL

  • Classical guitarist Amy Brucksch celebrates the guitar’s rich heritage, exploring musical connections with musicians as diverse as Celtic fiddlers, Baroque harpsichordists, African percussionists, and western NC’s first ever melodica band, One Road Over. She has a highly regarded CD, Luminescence, with flutist Kate Steinbeck and performed for many years with Pan Harmonia, a chamber music collective based in Asheville, NC. Her current collaborations besides the Avanti Guitar Trio include Trio Tapestry (violin, cello and guitar) and The Treblemakers, a genre-bending trio that explores new sounds for guitar with effects processors, synthesizers and melodicas. Passionate about sharing her love for the instrument, she currently teaches guitar to middle and high school students at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Rutherford County, NC. Her newest project is directing the Asheville Classical Guitar Orchestra which she started in 2023 under the auspices of the Asheville Classical Guitar Society.

A former faculty member of the University of Toledo and an Ohio Arts Council Touring Artist, her music degrees are from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Bowling Green State University. Amy lives in Tryon, NC and plays a guitar custom made for her by California luthier Gregory Byers.
