Melissa and her daughter, McKinney are singers, songwriters, musicians, and teachers who are resident artists with LEAF Global. With a focus on creating original music that inspires and ignites change, they have been sharing a message of hope with their students since McKinney was a young girl. Both perform locally and regionally with their bands, "Mama & The Ruckus" and "McKinney" and are passionate about creating classes, workshops, and events that uplift others. Five years ago, McKinney's band The Change performed at the LEAF festival and they fell in love with Asheville, and the LEAF mission. They moved here and have become part of the LEAF family permanently. You can find them teaching songwriting and recording classes, forming bands of youth that perform at the festival, or working summer camps with a focus on themes like Songs for Peace.

    Featuring….

Jillian Burfete, LaZoom Tour Guide and Production Manager

Jillian came from the area long ago and escaped to Chicago and La for the past 15 years, where she worked hard to become famous but didn't. After training and performing with Second City Chicago, iO Chicago, UCB LA, School at Steppenwolf and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, she has returned home to Asheville to live out her days blissfully, like an old hound dog on the front porch. Kisses.

    Jared Ericksen, LaZoom Tour Guide

Jared was born into a family of entertainers. His parents were the biggest attraction in a traveling circus. They were the worlds heaviest couple. Each weighing in excess of 1000 lbs. They only had one son, he’s the son of a ton! It wasn’t long till he was barking in the big top, once I started doing that, they threw him in the seal pit, and we all know how seals love to make deals. Well he made a bad one and lost the last 30 years. Currently Jared finds himself happily giving tours of Asheville at Lazoom. Loving, loofahing, and l.a.r.p.ing life!
