In honor of the return of the Morning Star, join us for a contemporary telling of Layla & Majnun, the classic Sufi folktale popularized by Nizami, the great 12th-century Persian epic poet.
It’s the story that captured the devotional & mystical heart of the medieval Islamic world. It greatly influenced Shakespeare and many famous poets of Eurasia. This tale is like Romeo & Juliet meets the enchanted, animist heart of the ancestral desert soul. It is a return to the Garden of Eden, to the divine power of Eros. It weds together longing, love, and grief with mystery, annihilation, and the cosmic heart breaking open. Join us for this ritual telling & offering to the Morning Star.
