In honor of the return of the Morning Star, join us for a contemporary telling of Layla & Majnun, the classic Sufi folktale popularized by Nizami, the great 12th-century Persian epic poet.
It’s the story that captured the devotional & mystical heart of the medieval Islamic world. It greatly influenced Shakespeare and many famous poets of Eurasia. This tale is like Romeo & Juliet meets the enchanted, animist heart of the ancestral desert soul. It is a return to the Garden of Eden, to the divine power of Eros. It weds together longing, love, and grief with mystery, annihilation, and the cosmic heart breaking open. Join us for this ritual telling & offering to the Morning Star.
This one is for the iridescent beauties, for our hummingbird friends and their beloved jewel-weed flowers, a marriage tens of millions of years in the making. Safe passage feathered friends, safe passage.

Frank Salzano is a cultural astronomer, astrologer, & storyteller. He is founder of Medicine of the Starry Heavens; Stories from Stardust; & The School of Celestial Illumination. He educates people on how to form a meaningful relationship with the night sky and animate cosmos. What he does has been described as “emergent divinatory therapeutics & story medicine.”
His close-up loves are architecture, nest-building & the sanctuary of home. He lives hidden away in his hobbit village in the hinterlands of Asheville, NC.
