An evening of celebration for the contributions of local female horror creators! This Just-Us-Girls event includes an intimate group discussion around the female perspective on and relationship with horror.

In an "around the campfire" setting with spooky ambience, we will discuss women and their work and perspective in the genre with local horror artists sharing their creations and promoting discussion together.

This is exclusively for women and folks who identify or were socialized as female to have a safe place to discuss their perspectives and enjoyment of the horror genre.

No boys allowed ;)

  • Missy is a life-long creative with a master's degree in Creativity Studies and a proclivity for marrying the terrifying with the beautiful.

    During her time as a visual artist, writer, filmmaker, actor, teacher, and photographer, she has honed her own practice into a science.

    Missy is the founder of Mouse House Productions and currently focused on her roles as writer, director, and producer of films about people who are ready to step off the ledge.

    She loves to cultivate strong communities of humans who happen to be artists, build things from the ground up, watch stories burst into life, and spend time cohorting with nature.

  • Jennifer Trudrung loves all things horror.

    She’s appeared in The Vampire Diaries and Halloween Kills and written the short films Hickory Dickory Dock, Unbearing, and the award winning Here There Be Tygers based on the Stephen King story.

    Jennifer is currently in post-production on her first feature film The Virgins

  • Meagan Lucas is the author of the Anthony-nominated short story collection Here in the Dark and the award-winning novel, Songbirds and Stray Dogs. 

    Her short fiction has been named to The Best American Mystery and Suspense Distinguished list in 2023 and 2024, and her story “They Light Themselves on Fire” will be included in the 2025 edition.

    Meagan teaches in the Great Smokies Writing Program at UNCA, is the editor-in-chief of Reckon Review, studies law at the University of Dayton, and lives in Flat Rock.
