Hailing originally from Peru and based in Asheville, NC, MAR is an artist, multi-instrumentalist and latinx advocate who draws from his South American musical roots, as well as blues and folk from his journey through North America. As a songwriter, M A R has a knack for crafting lyrics in Spanish & English. His authentic vocals project empowerment, sometimes nostalgia, and other times a catchy groove that makes you want to dance.
Producing from Latin Pop, through electronic, all the way to Folk influenced singer-songwriter vibe, M A R infuses his music with indie-flavored acoustic guitars and some Andean charango as well. Either performing or producing, M A R really enjoys collaborating with many like-minded creatives, and some of his credits include NETFLIX, Amazon Prime, and NBC. Founder of Oyelo Music Productions and winner of LGTBO+ Citibank Emerging Artist Award 2022, you can catch M A R at a solo show, or with his band M A R & The Marmeladies. Carolina is a dynamic bilingual storyteller who captivates audiences with enchanting tales from the vibrant landscapes of Latin America, stretching from El Río Grande to the breathtaking expanse of Patagonia. Since she arrived in the US, Carolina has performed at prestigious events like the National Storytelling Festival and The Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, leaving her mark on the storytelling community.
Embarking on a journey across the nation, Carolina has mesmerized listeners in schools, libraries, museums, and cultural institutions from coast to coast. Driven by her love for narratives, Carolina created her acclaimed literary podcast, Tres Cuentos, where she delves into the soul of Latin American literature. As a Teacher Artist for TAPAS (Teaching Artists Presenting in Asheville Schools), Carolina continues to inspire and educate through the art of Storytelling. This summer, 2024, Carolina was the Artist in residence at Story Parlor in Asheville. Currently, she is venturing into the world of puppetry and exploring the exciting process of publishing her first children's book.
